The Renegade 4WD Club visited Amicalola Falls State Park in north Georgia for the first time in a long time in Feburary 1998. Once we found the entrance to the trails, we found dirt roads that had a lot of potential 4WD trails running off them. We only explored a small part and will return for more explorations.
We don't have a lot of pictures. We spent a lot of time looking at maps and GPS units to make sure we weren't getting lost. Thanks to Chad Collins for taking these pictures.
Lined up and waiting in the middle of the ride. The red CJ-7 (it's now yellow
and has had a major rebuild) belongs to
Barron Cain.
The black CJ-7 belongs to
Stefan Roth.
We found a lot of deeeeeep water holes on these trails. This one is being
experienced by Barron.
There were a few small stream crossings, well hidden in the dark forest.
Stefan Roth on a mild off camber spot in
the trail. It looked worse than it actually was, except for the steep dropoff
into a creek bed.
This gully was the exit to the highway. It was very washed out, because it
apparently served as the drainage for the highway. Challenging!
Amicalola Falls
are about 800 feet tall and quite a sight to see, especially when you are
closer to them and walking up the steep path along the falls.
Thank you for visiting!!!
