Thank you to Jay Harrell for providing the pictures.
This ride was organized for the stock and near-stock vehicles that we have in the club and some friends that wanted to come along. The Beasley Knob ORV Area isn't really suitable for new stock vehicles, so we usually wound up driving into a trail and then turning around when it got too hard or dangerous. Fortunately, it had not rained for about 3 weeks, so the ground was very dry and there was enough traction for our poor tires.

speed manual transmission, 3:07 gears. Jay is not a club member, but he's a
very experienced driver who has taken his Cherokee to Moab and Colorado.
No, this isn't a stock CJ-7. It's
Henry Burkitt's
heavily modified CJ-7, out
on an inaugural run. He broke a rear axle U joint on a small hill while in
2WD. We replaced the U joint and went on.
This 1998 Wrangler belongs to
Patrick Corkren. At the time of this trail
ride, the TJ was stock. It's undergoing upgrades slowly but surely.
This Wrangler belongs to Sam Rose, a former prospective member. It has some
nice modifications on it, including a locker in the rear. Sam isn't afraid to
push it to its limit. It turned out to be the most capable vehicle of our
little group (after Henry had left early).
This 1998 Jeep Cherokee is the daily-driver of
Stefan Roth.
It came from the factory with the Upcountry Suspension package and the Towing
package. At this time, it is running with 30x9.50 BFG AT tires, which give
significantly better traction than the factory street tires.
Even though we had to turn back a number of times,
we had a great time 4 wheeling through the woods on the trails.
We definitely realized that Beasley Knob is not the place to be in these
vehicles if it has rained recently!
Thanks for visiting!
