The Renegade 4WD Club joined the Middle Tennessee Trail Runners in a winter ride at Monteagle. Word had gotten out about this ride and nearly 30 vehicles showed up Saturday morning, including about 10 vehicles from the Renegades. The weather was nice and not too cold. We didn't see any snow or ice like we had in years past.
Most of these pictures are of the Tunnel Hill or the dry creek bed. The Tunnel Hill is so called because there is a steep and rocky hill over a mountain under which is a train tunnel. The dry creek bed is always a challenging ride since it's full of rocks and steep ledges.
All the Renegades started out on the same ride, but after a while we split into a medium ride and a hard ride. These pictures here are of the "medium" ride, if you can call it something less than difficult. The Jeeps shown here aren't super-duper tall, but they handled these difficult trails really well. The creek bed is well known for the punishment is dishes out to vehicles. No one on the harder ride took any pictures, so we don't have any here.
Thank you to Sam Houston for these pictures and descriptions:
Tony Schaber on the way up to the bald spot before we
split into two rides.
Patrick Corkren getting a tug - before we split up.
Tony S. in a muddy spot on a log, just before we split
into two groups.
Tony S. and passenger (Angie Barker) making the "wimp"
climb to the bald spot.
Patrick making the same climb.
Richard Bagby (of the Middle Tennesse Trail Runners) at the bottom of Tunnel
Hill ... it's steeper than the picture makes it look.
Richard led this trail ride. Thanks!

A shot of the easy part of the creek that would be great
if it was better focused.
