We went to Upper Tellico OHV Area on December 13, 2008. The weather was rather cold - we left home in Atlanta when it was in the upper 20's with our car windows seriously frosted over. It wasn't much warmer when we got to the Murphy entrance station.

We started off going in on trail #4 and went directly to trail #11 - first to Guard Rail and then to Helicopter Pad.

Yes, the white stuff on the ground is snow! We heard from others that it had snowed 2-4" on Thursday night.

We went down the back side of #11 through the tricky rock field and then out on trail #3 and #4. It was still fairly early and we had wanted to go on upper trail 2. However, it was getting colder and we didn't want to get stuck on a trail in the dark, so we called it an early day.
